I could write a very long blog post on Jodi Arias’ 18th and LAST day on the witness stand but it would bore you to tears and make you want to pull your hair out. Her 18 days of testifying were filled with inconsistencies, stories, sexual fantasies, incredible allegations, no corroborating evidence, coincidental explanations and snarkiness.
On the last day she finished answering the Jury questions, over 220 of them and made it through the attorney follow-up. Even I, who enjoy watching trials and picking apart the legal issues, found myself zoning out when she would start going on and on about how great her memory is only to turn around and say she was in a fog.
However, towards the end of the day Juan Martinez, the firery prosecutor, started asking questions about the shelves in the closet. She had testified that she stepped onto the shelves to reach up and grab the gun that she used to shoot Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008. The questions, and her answers, explained that the shelves are of a simple “peg” design and that each shelf rested on 4 pegs. Even though the question was sustained, the prosecutor did ask her whether she was aware the shelves were rated at 40lbs. Although sustained, the Jury heard it – BOOM.
That was the most exciting part of the day. It looks like her chance to talk to and convince the jury she is not guilty has passed and based on the questions they asked her, I don’t think they believe her.
