Monica is a legal commentator, ad junct professor, mediator and practicing attorney with her own successful practice. She has a diverse legal background that has provided her with the experience necessary to be uniquely qualified to comment on the varying legal topics and issues of the day.

She currently co-hosts The Agenda and is KTAR News’ and Arizona Sport’s legal expert. You can find her #LegallySpeaking blog containing informative posts and videos on KTAR.com. Monica is an Ad Junct Professor at Arizona Summit Law School where she teaches mediation and advocacy and is involved in the mediation clinic.

She has provided legal analysis on several national networks including HLN (shows including News Now, Happening Now In America, HLN After Dark, Evening Express, Raising America, Nancy Grace, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Dr. Drew), ABC’s Good Morning America, Fox’s The O’Reilly Factor, Neil Cavuto’s Real World, Studio B with Shep Smith, and CNN’s Headline News.

With her experience as a criminal attorney and former prosecutor, Monica has shared her legal insight on the trials of Jodi Arias, George Zimmerman, Richard Chrisman, Debra Milke, Joshua Smith, Phil Spector, Warren Jeffs, O.J. Simpson, Dr. Conrad Murray (Michael Jackson trial), James Ray (Sweat Lodge case), and Casey Anthony. She has also commented on issues related to criminal law, insurance law, education, discrimination, child abuse and Constitutional rights, to name a few. You can often see her on local programming such as Fox 10 News, AZTV Channel 7’s The Morning Scramble or hear her on KTAR and Arizona Sports.

Monica has maintained a successful, results driven practice in Arizona for over 17 years helping clients resolve their legal matters. She started as a criminal prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in Phoenix and has been a litigator in various areas including criminal defense, bankruptcy, administrative law, educational law, complex civil litigation, insurance, and civil law (with issues of real estate, landlord tenant, employment, discrimination, contract, and family). In all cases, including those she mediates, Monica helps clients understand what is really happening and what realistically can be done. In striving towards resolving differences and obtaining results, she takes into consideration her clients’ emotional needs as well as their financial ones. Clients want the truth; they do not want false hopes or promises.

Volunteering her time as a Judge Pro Tem with the Maricopa County Superior Court civil, criminal and family divisions, is important to Monica. As a Judge Pro Tem she assists with court calendars and conducts settlement conferences. Along with experience derived from her private practice, serving as a JPT has provided her with the tools necessary to be a results driven mediator in the civil, criminal and family arenas in Arizona. Mediation is a great alternative to litigation and divorce mediation can be the answer for those who wish to resolve their differences and make a fresh start. Monica is involved in both her legal and civic communities. She is Past-President and current Board Member of the Scottsdale Bar Association and a past member of the Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court.

She also volunteered her time as a Member of the City of Scottsdale Board of Adjustments for two tenures where she, along with the rest of the Board, made decisions on variance requests within the City. Monica believes in giving back to the legal community. In the past she has been a facilitator with the University of Phoenix teaching undergraduate courses in the fields of criminal justice and Constitutional law. Additionally, for a number of years she worked with Bar Bri of Arizona, Idaho and Utah tutoring students to prepare for the Arizona Bar Exam.

Monica received her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law and her Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University. Go Jacks!
